Herbal Gathering Spell No. 2. 4th Century AD

In my previous article, I published a ritual for gathering herbs from the same Supplément grec. 574 manuscript. While the previous method was more priestly or sacerdotal—and even medicinal—this one is more aggressive and purely magical.

The method is originally named "βοτανηαρσις"—"botaniarsis," derived from "βοτάνη" (herb, plant) and "αἴρω" (to gather).

Translation

[Perform this method] before sunrise.
Recite the following words:

I pluck you, O plant1, with my five fingers2, I, (name), and I bring you home so that you may serve my specific purpose3. I conjure you by the immaculate names4 of God: if you do not comply, may the earth that brought you forth never again be moistened for as long as I live, should I fail in this work—Mautabar, Nah, Barnahoha, Braeo, Menda, Laubraasse, Fasfa, Bendeo5! Accomplish this work perfectly for me!
