Хахаэль и Микаэль

Khakhael i Mikael (Hahahel and Mikael) are a paired angelic name from the Kabbalistic tradition of the Shem HaMephorash, the 72-fold name of God. Hahahel (הההאל) is derived from the Hebrew root hahah (to be silent or to contemplate) and the suffix -el (God), often interpreted as ‘the God of silence’ or ‘the contemplative God.’ Mikael (מיכאל) is the well-known archangel ‘who is like God.’ Together they form a dyad that governs the sphere of coins—material currency, trade, and the spiritual essence of exchange—on the seventh Sephirah, Netzach (Victory).

Position on the Tree of Life

This pair occupies the seventh step of the scale, corresponding to Netzach, the Sephirah of Venus, desire, and the enduring force of nature. In the structure of Liber 777, each Sephirah has a pair of angels that rule over coins (the material representation of value). On Netzach, the pairing of Hahahel and Mikael balances contemplative stillness (Hahahel) with active, protective power (Mikael), reflecting the Venusian synthesis of love and struggle.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

Netzach is governed by Venus (Nogah in Hebrew). The coin-ruling angels on this sphere therefore carry the qualities of Venus: attraction, harmony, abundance, and the alchemical transmutation of base metal into spiritual gold. Hahahel’s silent, receptive aspect complements Mikael’s assertive, guarding nature—together they embody the Venusian polarity of receiving and giving, which is essential for the proper circulation of wealth (both literal and symbolic).

Historical context

The names Hahahel and Mikael appear in several key grimoires and Kabbalistic texts. In the Shem HaMephorash (the 72-fold name), Hahahel is the 44th name, ruling the 44th quinance of the zodiac (approximately 5°–10° of Scorpio). Mikael is the 1st name, ruling the first quinance of Aries. Their pairing as rulers of coins is a later development found in the Hermetic and Qabalistic traditions that influenced the Golden Dawn and Aleister Crowley’s Liber 777.

The concept of angelic pairs governing coins derives from medieval Jewish angelology, where specific angels were invoked for financial success and protection of treasure. In the Key of Solomon and the Lemegeton, Mikael is frequently called upon for wealth and victory, while Hahahel appears in lists of angels for contemplation and the discovery of hidden things. Their union on Netzach suggests that true material prosperity requires both inner stillness (to recognize value) and outer action (to secure it).

In the 777 table, the pair is listed under row CXXXII (Pairs of Angels ruling Coins) for the scale step 7. The sibling cells show other pairs for the other Sephiroth—for example, Nemamiah and Ieyaleel on Chokmah, Harachel and Mitrael on Binah, etc.—each pair adapted to the specific planetary and numerical nature of its Sephirah.

Closing

In Liber 777, Hahahel and Mikael appear as the angelic pair ruling coins on Netzach, step 7. Their presence in the table reflects a synthesis of contemplative and active angelic forces, aligned with Venusian abundance and the alchemical work of transforming desire into enduring value.
