He is also identified in the Zohar and other Kabbalistic texts as the angel who binds the worlds together, receiving the prayers of Israel and transmitting them to the higher spheres. In the medieval Berit Menuhah, Sandalphon is linked to the sephirah Malkuth and the divine name Adonai Melekh, emphasizing his role as the king’s herald in the material realm. Unlike Metatron, who is associated with the upper sephirah Keter and the World of Emanation, Sandalphon’s domain is the lowest world, Assiah, where he acts as a guardian of the physical creation and a guide for souls incarnating into matter.
