English of Col. LXXXII · Path 32

Right Recollection (in both senses of the word). Right View-Point.

The Pali term Sammā-sati (often rendered "Right Mindfulness") and the Pali term Sammā-diṭṭhi ("Right View") belong to the Noble Eightfold Path, yet here the table conflates them into a single gnostic formula: Right Recollection (in both senses of the word). Right View-Point. The phrase emphasises two complementary meanings of "recollection"—first, memory as the accurate retention of previous experience; second, re-collection as the act of gathering scattered attention into a focused present awareness. This double sense aligns with the Zen phrase nien (thought/mindfulness) and with the Tibetan dran pa (remembering the object of meditation). The paired name also echoes the classical Buddhist definition of sati as a faculty that "remembers" the wholesome object while simultaneously "seeing" its nature—hence Right View-Point is the concurrent insight into the true character of phenomena.
