Homoth

Homoth is an angelic name from the Enochian tradition, appearing in the Cadent column of Liber 777 for Path 26. The name is composed of Enochian roots: Hom (“man”) and Oth (“existence” or “being”), yielding a possible meaning of “Man of Being” or “Existing Man.” It belongs to the same family of Enochian angelic names as Asentacer, Aharph, and others listed for adjacent paths.

Position on the Tree of Life

Homoth is assigned to Path 26, the twenty-sixth path of the Tree of Life. This path is attributed to the Hebrew letter Ayin (ע) and connects the sephirah Hod (Splendor) with Malkuth (Kingdom). It is the path of the zodiac sign Capricorn.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

The path’s astrological sign is Capricorn, whose planetary ruler is Saturn. Homoth thus partakes of the Saturnine and earthy qualities of Capricorn: structure, limitation, patience, and material manifestation.

Historical context

Homoth originates in the Enochian system of John Dee and Edward Kelley (16th century). In the Enochian corpus, the 30 Aethyrs are each governed by a set of angelic names; the 91 Governors are listed in the Liber Logaeth and the 48 Claves Angelicae. Homoth appears among these names, likely as a Governor of the 26th Aethyr or as an intelligence specifically aligned with the zodiac sign Capricorn. The name is also found in later occult compilations, notably in Aleister Crowley’s Liber 777, where it is placed in the column labeled “Cadent” (a term borrowed from astrological house classification) for Path 26. In Crowley’s system, these angelic names are used in ritual invocations of the Aethyrs and in the meditative work of the Vision and the Voice. The sibling names—Asentacer (Path 15), Aharph (Path 16), Tepistosoa (Path 17), etc.—are likewise Enochian angelic names for other paths, forming a coherent set of spiritual intelligences on the Tree of Life.

In Liber 777, at the intersection of Path 26 (Ayin, Capricorn) and the column “Cadent” (which corresponds to the angelic order of the cadent houses), the name Homoth is given. It serves as the specific angelic intelligence to be invoked or contemplated when working with the energies of that path.
