Its Greek name, hepta, derives from the Semitic root šbʿ (to be full, to swear an oath), and its glyph is the intersection of the triangle of spirit with the square of matter—the four-square foundation crowned by the triad of heaven. In the Greek isopsephic system, 7 is the value of the letter Zeta (Ζ, ζ), which itself represents the life-force and the zodiacal circle.

Position on the Tree of Life

Seven corresponds to the Sephirah Netzach (Victory) on the Tree of Life, the sphere of Venus and the emotional, aesthetic, and instinctual drives.
