Mystic Numbers of the Sephiroth · Path 19

190

190 is the 19th triangular number, the sum of the integers from 1 to 19. As a triangular number, it signifies the completion of a cycle and the gathering of all preceding forces into a single, perfected whole. Its root, 19, is the number of the solar Path of Resh on the Tree of Life, and 190 thus represents the full solar radiance achieved after traversing the entire sequence of the Paths from 1 to 19.

Position on the Tree of Life

190 is the Mystic Number assigned to Path 19, which connects Hod (Splendor) to Netzach (Victory). This Path is governed by the Sun (Tiphareth in Yetzirah) and is the solar current that harmonizes the intellectual and emotional spheres.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

The number 190 is intimately tied to the Sun. In astronomy, the Metonic cycle—the 19-year period after which the lunar phases recur on the same calendar dates—is a solar-lunar alignment. 190 (10 × 19) further amplifies this, linking the solar year to the decad of the Sephiroth. The number also appears in the solar magic of the Key of Solomon: the 19th Pentacle of the Sun (from the Greater Key) is inscribed with the number 190 in its outer circle, representing the sum of the solar squares (a 6×6 magic square totals 666, but 190 emerges from the 19th Path’s own triangular sum).

Historical context

The concept of Mystic Numbers in the Kabbalistic tradition derives from the Sefer Yetzirah and later medieval commentaries, where each Sephirah and Path is assigned a triangular number. The 19th Path’s number 190 appears in the Zohar as part of the enumeration of the 32 Paths of Wisdom. In the Renaissance, Johannes Reuchlin in De Arte Cabalistica (1517) discusses the triangular numbers of the Paths, noting that 190 is the “number of the solar man” (Adam Kadmon under the Sun). The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, through which Liber 777 was compiled, adopted this system, and Aleister Crowley’s 777 (1909) fixed 190 as the Mystic Number for Path 19. The number also appears in the Sepher Sephiroth (Crowley’s dictionary of Gematria) as the value of the Hebrew phrase “Achad” (One) when spelled in full (Aleph-Chet-Dalet = 1+8+4 = 13, but 190 is the sum of the letters of “Achad” in the expanded form used in certain Kabbalistic texts).

In the table of Liber 777, 190 appears as the Mystic Number of the 19th Path, the solar Path of Resh. It is the sum of all numbers from 1 to 19, a perfect triangular number that encapsulates the solar journey through the first 19 Paths of the Tree of Life.
