351

351

351 is the mystic number of the Twenty-Sixth Path, the path that connects Binah (Understanding) to Tiphereth (Beauty) on the Tree of Life, and is assigned to the Hebrew letter Ayin (ע) and the zodiacal sign Capricorn. The number itself is a triangular number (the 26th triangular number), derived from the formula T₂₆ = (26 × 27) / 2 = 351, and it thus carries the cumulative symbolism of all numbers from 1 through 26—each of those numbers corresponding to the paths, sephiroth, and letters of the Hebrew alphabet in the Qabalistic system of the Sepher Yetzirah.

Position on the Tree of Life

351 marks the numerical expression of the Twenty-Sixth Path, joining the third sephirah (Binah) to the sixth (Tiphereth). As such, it bridges the supernal understanding of form and limitation with the central solar harmony of the microcosm. The path itself is described in the Thirty-Two Paths of Wisdom as the "Innocent or Reawakening Intelligence," because it restores the soul to a state of primordial purity through the discipline of the Saturnine-Capricornian energies.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

This path is astrologically aligned with Capricorn, a cardinal earth sign ruled by Saturn. The number 351 thus participates in the Saturnine qualities of contraction, materiality, time, and the crystallisation of spirit into form. The addition of the word "351" in practical Qabalah often invokes the limit-structures of space and duration, the bones of the body, the goat's ascent of the mountain, and the slow, grinding work of self-perfection.

Historical context

The concept of a "mystic number" for each path and sephirah emerges from the Qabalistic tradition of assigning triangular numbers to the ten sephiroth and thirty-two paths. The earliest explicit table of such numbers appears in Cornelius Agrippa's De Occulta Philosophia (1533), where the numbers 1, 3, 6, 10, 15, 21, 28, 36, 45, and 55 are given for the sephiroth. This progression is continued for the paths—each being the sum of all integers up to the number of that path. The system was formalised in later esoteric Qabalah and adopted by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, who transmitted it directly into the correspondences of Liber 777.

The number 351 itself appears as the sum of the Hebrew letter values for certain divine names and magical formulae associated with the path of Ayin. For instance, the value of the Hebrew phrase "Aleph Lamed Pe" (אלפ) as a word meaning "thousand" is 111—and 351 is the product of 27 × 13, both numbers having deep solar and unity symbolism (27 being the value of the letter Kaph final, and 13 the value of AChD, Unity). More directly, the gematria of the word "Orion" (אוריון) in Hebrew can be parsed to 351 in some reckonings, linking Capricorn (the sea-goat) to the constellation of the hunter—two images of the winter solstice sky.

In Liber 777, the column of "Mystic Numbers of the Sephiroth" extends this triangular sequence across all thirty-two paths. The number 351 is entered at row 26, between 325 (Path 25) and 378 (Path 27), providing a simple numeric signature for the path that dignifies the entire complex of correspondences under Ayin/Capricorn.

Summary

In the table of Liber 777, the value 351 stands in the column for Mystic Numbers of the Sephiroth at the row for Path 26. This number is not an attribute of a separate object; it is the numeric condensation of the path itself—a single integer that sums the descending light of the supernal world through all prior stations, delivering the initiate to the gate of Capricorn.
