The text lists each Path as a distinct “Intelligence” (or “Consciousness”), describing how each Sephirah and connecting path channels divine influence into the created universe. The Illuminating Intelligence is one of these original thirty-two designations, recorded in the oldest strata of Qabalistic literature.

Later Qabalists, notably Moses Cordovero (16th century) and the compilers of the Zohar, elaborated on these titles. In Cordovero’s Pardes Rimonim, the 14th Path is understood as the apex of the intellectual illumination that begins in Chokmah. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn (19th–20th centuries) adopted the list for their famous table, Liber 777, where it appears in the row for the Paths of the Sepher Yetzirah.
