Tzedeq

Tzedeq (צדק), meaning "Righteousness" or "Justice," is the Hebrew name for the planet Jupiter. In the Kabbalistic cosmology of the Heavens of Assiah, it is the celestial sphere that embodies the quality of mercy, expansion, and beneficence. The name itself reflects the idea of divine justice that is tempered with compassion, a key attribute of the Sephirah it governs.

Position on the Tree of Life

Tzedeq corresponds to the fourth Sephirah, Chesed (Mercy), on the Tree of Life. This position places it on the Pillar of Mercy, directly below Chokmah. As the sphere of Chesed, Tzedeq represents the first fully manifest outpouring of divine love and grace into the created universe, a force that is expansive, forgiving, and sustaining.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

Astrologically, Tzedeq is the planet Jupiter. Its influence is associated with growth, abundance, optimism, and higher learning. In the system of Liber 777, the planetary sphere of Tzedeq is the source of these qualities in the material world, acting as a conduit for the Chesed energy of expansion and benevolence.

Historical context

The identification of Tzedeq with Jupiter has deep roots in Jewish and Hellenistic astrological traditions. In the Hebrew Bible, the planet is not explicitly named, but later rabbinic literature and the Sefer Yetzirah associate it with the right hand and the letter Kaph. The Zohar and subsequent Kabbalistic texts elaborate on Tzedeq as the sphere that bestows righteousness and prosperity upon the world. In the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, where the correspondences of Liber 777 were systematized, Tzedeq is the key planetary influence for rituals of expansion, success, and invoking mercy. Its position in the Heavens of Assiah, the material world, indicates that these Jupiterian qualities are active and tangible in physical reality.

In the table of Liber 777, Tzedeq appears as the planetary ruler of the fourth Sephirah, Chesed, within the Heavens of Assiah. It is the specific celestial force that governs the material expression of mercy and expansion, distinct from the more abstract spiritual influences of the higher worlds.
