ARARITA

ARARITA is a divine name and magical formula in the Kabbalistic tradition, a notariqon (acronym) derived from the Hebrew phrase Achad Resh Achudato Resh Iechudo Temurah Achat (אחד ראש אחדותו ראש יחודו תמורה אחת). This phrase translates to 'One is His Beginning, One is His Individuality, His Permutation is One.' The name itself is a palindrome, reading the same forwards and backwards, reinforcing its core symbolism of unity, self-containment, and the unchangeable, singular essence of the Divine. It is a formula of synthesis, asserting that all apparent diversity and change are permutations of a single, underlying reality.

Position on the Tree of Life

ARARITA is attributed to the seventh Sephirah, Netzach (Victory), on the Tree of Life. Netzach represents the sphere of Venus, emotion, art, and the instinctual drives. The placement of ARARITA here is significant: it is the formula that brings the chaotic, often conflicting energies of the lower emotional and instinctual nature into a state of harmonious unity. It is the magical key to overcoming the illusion of separation within the realm of feeling and desire, aligning them with the singular will of the divine.

Astrological and Planetary Correspondence

As the formula of Netzach, ARARITA is associated with the planet Venus. This correspondence is not about romantic love in the mundane sense, but about the alchemical principle of attraction, harmony, and the binding together of disparate elements into a cohesive whole. The Venusian energy of Netzach, when governed by the formula ARARITA, becomes a force for aesthetic and spiritual unification, transforming raw passion into a vehicle for divine expression.

Historical Context

The phrase and its notariqon ARARITA first appear in the Sepher Yetzirah (Book of Formation), one of the foundational texts of Jewish mysticism. In that work, it is used to describe the nature of the One God who creates the universe through the 32 paths of wisdom. The formula was later adopted and elaborated upon by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, which systematized its correspondences on the Tree of Life. In Golden Dawn teachings, ARARITA is a key formula for the Middle Pillar ritual and for the invocation of the higher self, serving as a verbal talisman to unify the microcosm with the macrocosm. It is also closely linked to the formula ABRAHADABRA (attributed to Tiphereth), which represents the Great Work achieved, while ARARITA represents the underlying principle of unity that makes that work possible.

In the context of Liber 777, ARARITA is the magical formula assigned to the seventh Sephirah, Netzach. It stands as the specific verbal key for harmonizing the Venusian and emotional forces of that sphere, a tool for the magician to realize the essential oneness of all things within the realm of victory and beauty.
