Golachab

Golachab is the Qliphothic order that embodies the destructive and unbalanced aspect of severity, corresponding to the Sephirah Geburah on the Tree of Life. The name is typically translated as "the Robbers" or "the Plunderers," derived from Hebrew roots that connote violent seizure, stripping, and the breaking of forms—a direct reflection of its nature as a force of raw, chaotic judgment.

Position on the Tree of Life

Golachab occupies the fifth position on the Tree of Life, aligned with Geburah, the sphere of strength, judgment, and severity. In the Qliphoth, the "shells" or "husks" that represent the impure emanations, Golachab is the inverse of Geburah's divine power. Where Geburah exercises disciplined force and righteous judgment, Golachab manifests as unbridled cruelty, wrath, and destruction without purpose or mercy. This order is considered one of the most fearsome in the Qliphothic hierarchy, as it represents the raw, untamed energy of the cosmos when separated from the balancing influence of Chesed (mercy).

Astrological and Planetary Correspondence

Golachab is astrologically linked to the planet Mars, which governs war, aggression, and primal energy. This correspondence reinforces the order's fiery, martial, and violent character. In the Zohar, the Qliphoth are described as the "shells" or "husks" that conceal the divine light, and Golachab is specifically associated with the demonic forces that arise from the sphere of judgment. The order is mentioned in the works of Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa, who in his Three Books of Occult Philosophy (1531) lists the Qliphothic orders as part of the infernal hierarchy. Agrippa places Golachab under the rule of the demon Asmodeus, further emphasizing its connection to wrath and destruction.

In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn systematized the Qliphoth within their Qabalistic framework, assigning Golachab to the path of Geburah and linking it to the planetary sphere of Mars. The Golden Dawn's teachings describe Golachab as a realm of "evil spirits" that tempt the initiate through violence, anger, and the misuse of power. Later, Aleister Crowley, in his Liber 777, codified these correspondences, placing Golachab in the column of the Orders of Qliphoth at the step of Geburah. Crowley's work draws on earlier sources but presents the Qliphoth as necessary polarities in the cosmic balance, with Golachab representing the destructive force that must be understood and integrated.
