Orders of Qliphoth · Path 14

..............

Aarab Zarak (A’arab Zaraq) — translated as “Ravens of Dispersion” or “Crows of the Scattering” — is the Qliphothic order that represents the husk (kelipah) of Netzach, the Sephirah of beauty, love, and victory. Where Netzach channels the harmonious and creative forces of Venus, A’arab Zaraq embodies the chaotic, obsessive, and destructive side of desire: the scattering of energy into endless distraction, the corruption of aesthetic pleasure into mere lust, and the fragmentation of emotional bonds. The raven, a bird of ill omen and carrion, serves as its totem, scavenging the ruins of unbalanced passion.

Position on the Tree of Life

Traditionally, A’arab Zaraq is the Qliphothic order of the seventh Sephirah, Netzach. In the arrangement of Liber 777, however, it is listed at step 14 (Path 14) — the path of Daleth, which is also governed by Venus. This placement underscores the Venusian current that runs through both the Sephirah and the path, while the Qliphothic inversion manifests as the Ravens of Dispersion.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

A’arab Zaraq is directly linked to Venus (Nogah in Hebrew). In the balanced Tree, Venus rules Netzach and inspires art, love, and nature. In the Qliphoth, the same planetary force becomes obsessive attachment, vanity, and the scattering of vital energy into hollow pleasures. The Ravens of Dispersion are thus the active agents of Venusian corruption.

Historical context

The earliest systematic listing of the Qliphothic orders appears in the works of the 16th-century Kabbalist Isaac Luria, but the specific names and hierarchies were codified in later grimoires and in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. S.L. MacGregor Mathers’s The Kabbalah Unveiled (1887) and Aleister Crowley’s Liber 777 (1909) fixed A’arab Zaraq as the Qliphoth of Netzach. Crowley, in The Vision and the Voice, describes the Ravens as “the scattering of the beauty of the Sephiroth” — a force that tears apart the unity of the divine attributes and scatters them into the abyss of matter. The order is also associated with the demoness Naamah, who in some traditions rules the Qliphoth of Netzach, and with the planetary intelligence of Venus in its destructive aspect.

In the table of Liber 777, A’arab Zaraq appears in Column VIII (Orders of Qliphoth) at step 14, directly beneath the Venusian path of Daleth. Its correspondences include the planet Venus, the number 7 (Netzach), and the raven as its symbolic animal. The order stands as a warning: the same force that inspires the highest art can, when unbalanced, scatter the soul into a thousand fragments of meaningless desire.
