Orders of Qliphoth · Path 25

Necheshiron

Necheshiron is the Qliphothic order assigned to Path 25 of the Tree of Life, corresponding to the Hebrew letter Samekh (ס) and the astrological sign of Sagittarius. Its name derives from the Hebrew root נחש (nachash), meaning 'serpent,' and it represents the 'Serpentine Ones' or 'Serpent Order'—the shell of the spiritual force that manifests as the coiled, penetrating energy of the arrow.

Position on the Tree of Life

Path 25 connects the Sephirah Chesed (Mercy) to Geburah (Severity) via the central pillar. In the Qliphothic inversion, Necheshiron occupies the corresponding position on the Tree of Death, where it embodies the unbalanced, destructive aspect of the Sagittarian impulse: aimless wanderlust, fanatical dogma, or the piercing venom of intellectual pride.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter, is the sign of aspiration, expansion, and the quest for meaning. In Necheshiron, these qualities are corrupted into restlessness, overreaching ambition, and the pursuit of false truths. The serpent symbolism here is not the coiled wisdom of the Kundalini but the venomous bite of the arrow that misses its mark, poisoning the seeker with delusion.

Historical context

The Qliphothic orders of the Paths are less documented than the Sephirah-based shells, but Necheshiron appears in the 777 system as part of the complete schema of the Tree of Death. It is the direct counterpart of the angelic order of the Samekh path, which is the order of the Kerubim (the 'Mighty Ones') in the Yetziratic tradition. Necheshiron thus represents the 'Serpentine' distortion of the stabilizing, supportive force of the Kerubim—the shell that turns the cosmic pillar into a writhing coil of chaos.

In later Qabalistic and Thelemic writings, Necheshiron is sometimes associated with the 'Serpent of the Path' that must be overcome or integrated in the initiatory journey, particularly in the context of the arrow's flight from the bow of the aspirant. Its number, 25, also connects to the 25th Path of the Sepher Yetzirah, which is the 'Intelligence of Probation' or 'Tentative Intelligence'—the faculty that tests and proves all things. In the Qliphoth, this becomes the intelligence that deceives and corrupts through false trials.

In Liber 777

In the table of Liber 777, Necheshiron appears as the Qliphothic order for Path 25, with the astrological correspondence of Sagittarius and the Hebrew letter Samekh. It is the 'Serpent Order' that stands opposite the angelic order of the Kerubim, and its name is listed alongside other Path-based shells such as Necheshthiron (Path 24) and Dagdagiron (Path 26), forming a sequence of serpentine and fish-like entities that represent the corrupted forms of the lunar and solar currents.
