The Tree of Life · Path 25

Pathjoins 6–9

The Path that joins Tiphereth and Yesod is a bridge between the solar center of the microcosm and the lunar foundation of the personality. Its number, 25, is the square of 5, the number of Geburah, hinting at the severity required to refine the heart’s radiance into a stable vessel. In Hebrew, this Path is associated with the letter Samekh, meaning "prop" or "support," a fitting glyph for the spinal column that upholds the soul’s ascent.

Position on the Tree of Life

This Path is the 25th scale step on the Tree of Life, occupying the Middle Pillar between Tiphereth (6) on the fourth plane and Yesod (9) on the sixth plane. It is one of the three vertical Paths that link the central sephiroth, channeling the balanced energy of the sun down to the moon’s reflective sphere.

Astrological and planetary correspondence

In the 777 system, this Path is attributed to the zodiacal sign Sagittarius, the Archer. Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign ruled by Jupiter, symbolizing aspiration, directness, and the quest for higher truth. The arrow of the Archer represents the focused will that pierces illusion, a perfect emblem for the Path that carries the light of Tiphereth into the formative realm of Yesod.

Historical context

The 25th Path appears in the Sepher Yetzirah as the Path of Samekh, described as "the Intelligence of Probation" or "Tentative Intelligence." Early Kabbalists saw it as the trial of the soul before it can enter the sanctuary of Tiphereth. In the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, this Path was elaborated with the Tarot card Atu XIV, Temperance, which depicts an angel pouring the essence of life between two cups. The alchemical process of tempering—heating and cooling metal to achieve strength—mirrors the Path’s function: to stabilize the raw solar energy of Tiphereth into the coherent image-making power of Yesod. Crowley’s Liber 777 places the formula of the Path as the reconciliation of opposites, a theme echoed in the alchemical motto Solve et Coagula.

The Pathjoins 6–9 is thus the channel of synthesis, where the individual’s central light is refined into a foundation for manifestation. In the table of 777 at this step, it appears as the 25th Path on the Tree of Life, a direct link between the sun and the moon, the heart and the foundation.
