7-я Вспышка Молнии

7-ya Vspyshka Molnii — the Seventh Flash of Lightning in the descending sequence of the Qabalistic Lightning Flash. The Russian phrase translates directly to “the 7th Flash of Lightning,” continuing the numerical series from Keter (1st) down to Malkuth (10th). In the system of Liber 777, each flash marks a stage of the creative force as it plunges from the Unmanifest into the material world. The 7th flash is the point of victory and enduring drive, the lightning’s corona as it passes through the sphere of Netzach.

Position on the Tree of Life

The Seventh Flash corresponds to Netzach (Victory, Endurance), the seventh sephirah on the Tree. This is the first sphere of the ethical or emotional triad, where the raw energies of the upper sephiroth begin to crystallise into dynamic patterns. The flash here is no longer the pure abstract will of the Crown or the severing clarity of Geburah; it carries the quality of sustained radiance and organic propagation. In the descending path, the lightning bolt has passed through the harsh judgment of Geburah (6th) and here slows to a steady pulse, a pulsation that builds the foundations for the splendour of Hod and the stability of Yesod.

Astrological and Planetary Correspondence

In the correspondences of Liber 777, the Seventh Flash aligns with the planet Venus (♀). Venus rules Netzach, and the flash is therefore the quickening of desire, attraction, and the formative patterns that arise from rhythmic interaction. Unlike the sword-like directness of the earlier flashes, the 7th flash is serpentine, coiling around the axis of the Tree. It is the lightning that becomes the serpent, the electric kiss that fertilises the abyss of the lower worlds. This planetary attribution grounds the flash in the material realm of love, art, and the colours of nature, yet preserves its origin as a bolt of the divine.

Historical Context

The concept of the Lightning Flash (Ha-Barak ha-Makif) originates in late medieval Qabalah, particularly in the works of Moses Cordovero (Pardes Rimonim) and Isaac Luria. The lightning represents the rapid emanation of the sephiroth from the hidden Godhead (Ein Sof) into the vessels of creation. The 7th flash appears as the moment when the divine energy takes on a sustained, self‑propagating character—what the Zohar calls the “garment of glory” for the Shekhinah in her lower aspects.

In the Hermetic Qabalah of the Golden Dawn, the sequence of flashes was formalised into the 32 paths, with the first 10 flashes corresponding to the sephiroth and the next 22 to the paths of the Serpent Wisdom. The 7th flash is thus the 7th Path, but here the path is the lightning itself, not the later wanderings of the serpent. Renaissance magicians such as Athanasius Kircher depicted this flash in his Oedipus Aegyptiacus as a line of fire descending through the sephirotic diagram. Later, Aleister Crowley in Liber 777 designated the 7th flash as the active principle of Netzach, linking it to the formula of the Sword and the Serpent—the tool of differentiation and the current of life that entwines them.

In the Table of Liber 777

In the present table (scale step 7), the 7th Flash of Lightning is entered under the column “The Sword and the Serpent.” This row encompasses both the severing power of the sword and the coiled wisdom of the serpent. For the 7th flash, the sword aspect is dominant yet tempered: the sharpness of the earlier judgments now serves to cut the cords that bind the soul to inertia, while the serpentine quality begins to coil into the patterns of nature. The flash appears here not as a separate object but as the vehicle of the Sword and the Serpent, the dynamic brink between the two poles.
